At 30 A of rated charge current it sits on the typical rung for an MPPT controller, so it scores 5 on capacity.

Better on capacityRenogy Rover 100A MPPT Solar Charge ControllerAt 100 A of rated charge current it sits on the top rung. $701.99Scores 10.0

Renogy's spec sheet rates charge conversion above 97 percent, so it scores 6 on efficiency.

Its maximum PV open-circuit voltage is 150 V, so it scores 7 on operating range.

It has Bluetooth and RV-C built in, two-unit parallel operation by the manual, a user battery mode and an included battery temperature sensor but no load output, so it scores 9 on features.

Renogy's page claims UL 1741 certification, but no certifier directory searched (Intertek, UL Product iQ, CSA, the CEC list, LabTest, TÜV SÜD, TÜV Rheinland and SGS) lists the RCC30REGO, and CSA's Renogy file 302738 names only the REGO 60A, so it scores 2 on verification.

Reddit owners split on Renogy's MPPT controllers. In r/vandwellers a full-timer whose Renogy panels and batteries failed says the 40 A and 60 A controllers kept working, and another owner calls a smaller Renogy controller great after a year (July 2025), while a third says Renogy's MPPT design decisions are ridiculous (July 2025). Against that, an r/vandwellers owner of two Rover 40A units had one throwing ACr battery-disconnect errors and called Renogy support trash (April 2024), and another learned after years of undercharging that the controller was not designed for their lithium battery (September 2023). An r/SolarDIY RV owner weighing a Rover Li 40A against a Victron 100/50 heard Victron called more tried and true (2026).

Footprint Hero, which bought five controllers itself and links them through Amazon and Renogy affiliate programs, named the Rover 40A its best value pick (February 2023): it tied last on output at 142 W against 146 W from a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 on a 200 W array, and placed fourth on voltage accuracy at 0.175 V off against Victron's 0.075 V. On DIY Solar Forum (November-December 2019), Rover and Rover Li owners report units that charge as expected, including one in sub-zero use, while one owner's Rover failed and drained his batteries back through the panels overnight and another's would not hold a 15 V absorption setting.

Freedom in a Can, whose video links each REGO part through Renogy's affiliate program and whose channel discloses paid sponsorship, installed a REGO system with the REGO 60A solar controller in a Forest River Wolf Pup trailer and reported everything performing as expected in its testing episode, with the controller's input read on the Renogy ONE monitor (December 2022, about 5,100 views). No tester without a Renogy tie was found on the REGO controllers.

AmazonBrand-level7.0 out of 10

Renogy's Amazon US Rover family listing (B01MSYGZGI), which spans the 20 A to 100 A Rover models, reads 4.4 from 3,826 ratings, sold by Amazon.com at $170.99 for the 40A (read October 2026, matching the 2026-10-11 survey). That is a product rating; Amazon's brand badge (87 percent of Renogy ratings at 4 stars or more) is a seller-level figure and is not scored.
