EG4 is the brand of EG4 Electronics LLC of Sulphur Springs, Texas, part of Energy Access Innovations with its sister company Signature Solar.

The EG4 MPPT100-48HV (Signature Solar SKU 1570006) is a 100 A MPPT solar charge controller for 48 V nominal battery banks. Its spec sheet and manual give a 500 V maximum PV array open-circuit voltage, a 120 to 450 V MPPT operating range on one tracker, an 18 A maximum solar current draw, a 22 A maximum PV string current and up to 5,500 W of usable PV array power when two strings are combined. Charge current is set from 5 A to 100 A (default 80 A), though the product page gives the range as 0 A to 100 A; bulk charging is set from 48 to 62 V (default 56 V), float from 48 V up to the bulk setting, and overcharge protection trips at 63 V. The spec sheet gives a 94 percent maximum efficiency, self-consumption under 25 W, an IP21 enclosure, an operating range of 14°F to 131°F (the manual asks for 32°F to 131°F ambient for best operation), 17.2 x 11.6 x 4.7 in (43.8 x 29.5 x 12.0 cm) and 17.8 lb. The battery type is user-defined by default, with bulk, float and maximum current set by hand, or LI for EG4's battery protocol over the RS485 BMS port; the manual warns that the controller and an inverter should not both talk to the battery at once. Built in are a PV breaker and a battery breaker, an LCD with three indicators and four buttons, and a fan; per the manual, the unit goes to standby when PV is lost and powers off after about 2 minutes. In the box, per the manual: the controller, the manual and an RS485 BMS communication cable; EG4 support says firmware updates need a separate custom cable. EG4's warranty gives 3 years of full parts or full product replacement, must be registered within the first year or backed by proof of purchase from an authorised distributor, and does not cover units bought outside EG4's approved vendors. EG4 sells it through its sister company Signature Solar, at $449.99 on its own product page.
