Reddit owners of LiTime's DC-DC chargers post setup trouble more than praise, and none names which 40 A model they own. An r/vandwellers owner of a LiTime 40 A unit heard a rising whine on each charge cycle and saw the inverter on the house battery fault every few minutes, and in an r/RVLiving follow-up found the charger and a Vevor 2,500 W inverter would not run together on one battery (August 2024). An r/VanLife owner of a 40 A unit in a 1997 Econoline asked why it flashed a fault and clicked on and off, and a commenter put it down to the alternator sagging at idle (September 2025).

No forum owner of the MPPT model was found. On DIY Solar Forum a buyer of LiTime's 40 A DC-DC charger bench-tested it before installing and found it boosted a 13.2 V input to a 14.6 V output, so it would drain a starter battery if left on, and planned to switch its power-on input from the ignition (September 2025).

LiTime is the brand of Shenzhen Ampere Time Digital Energy Technology, founded in 2018 and renamed from Ampere Time in December 2022.

It sells direct from litime.com, which ships US orders from warehouses in Los Angeles and Dallas, and through its Amazon store and Walmart's marketplace.

The LiTime 12V 40A DC-DC Battery Charger with MPPT (L12V40A-DC-Z) is a dual-input charger that charges a 12 V service battery at up to 40 A from a vehicle's alternator, from solar panels through a built-in MPPT controller, or from both. LiTime's manual rates the solar input at 600 W, 10 V minimum and 30 V maximum, and the alternator input at 600 W, from 11.3 V to 24 V for a traditional alternator and 12 V to 24 V for a smart alternator, which it handles through an ACC wire run to a switched ignition source. LiTime gives charging efficiency of up to 93 percent and MPPT tracking efficiency of up to 99 percent, with standby draw under 10 mA. It charges SLA, AGM, GEL, calcium and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries, chosen with two keys and shown on LED indicators, and a long press starts a reverse charge that tops up a flat starter battery from the service battery. Connections are 50 A Anderson plugs; LiTime's Amazon listing warns it is not waterproof and not for marine use. It measures 5.83 x 1.89 x 7.44 in, weighs 2.43 lb and operates from -10°C to 45°C. The box holds three 50 A Anderson connectors and six mounting screws. LiTime's warranty policy gives its DC-DC chargers, with or without MPPT, 2 years. LiTime also sells the 12V 40A DC-DC Charger without solar input ($149.99) and the 12V 60A DC-DC Charger ($189.99).
