Berkey Products

Berkey is a gravity-fed water filtration brand built around stainless steel countertop systems that need no plumbing, no electricity and no water pressure. Water is poured into an upper chamber and passes through Black Berkey elements into a lower reservoir under gravity alone, which makes the systems usable off-grid, during outages, and in rentals where plumbing changes are not possible.

The range is sized by capacity rather than by technology: Travel at 1.5 gallons, Big at 2.25, Royal at 3.25, Imperial at 4.5 and Crown at 6, alongside the portable Go Berkey kit. All use the same elements, so the choice is household size rather than filtration depth. Element life is long compared with cartridge systems, which is much of the value argument.

Sourcing is worth understanding before buying. New Millennium Concepts Ltd manufactures the systems but does not operate a direct consumer storefront, so purchases go through authorized dealers. Marketplace listings priced well below dealer pricing are a known counterfeit signal.

The systems are widely discussed and long established among preparedness and off-grid users. The main practical criticisms are the slow flow rate inherent to gravity filtration, the counter space the larger units occupy, and the priming and periodic re-priming that the elements require.
