- Reddit's dominant Berkey theme is not maintenance but whether the performance claims hold up - the most-repeated specific criticism, across r/preppers and r/Berkey, is that the NSF-53 claim rests on a lab that ran roughly two litres through an element rather than the throughput the standard calls for.
