The Travel Berkey gets you the Berkey platform in the only size that actually travels, and 2.75 gallons per hour is what that portability costs. It caps at two elements, so unlike every larger system in the range you cannot buy your way out of the wait. Treat it as a one-to-three person or emergency filter rather than a kitchen workhorse.
- Runs on gravity alone with no electricity, plumbing or water pressure
- Nesting AISI 304 stainless chambers pack down and survive transport
- 3,000 gallons per element and 6,000 per pair, which is years of use for most households
- Independent Tap Score testing of the platform showed full reduction of lead, chlorine and the PFAS compounds tested on city water
- Optional PF-2 elements add fluoride and arsenic reduction without a second appliance
- Lifetime warranty on the stainless chambers and hardware when bought through the authorized dealer
- Hard-capped at two Black Berkey elements, so 2.75 gallons per hour is the ceiling
- No NSF certification for any filtration claim; all performance data is manufacturer-commissioned lab testing
- Standalone Black Berkey replacement elements are out of stock industry-wide under an EPA stop-sale order
- Priming the elements at a faucet is the single most common first-use complaint
- Flow degrades over months unless the elements are scrubbed and re-primed periodically
- Standard spigot has no sight glass, so the lower chamber level is guesswork
The Travel Berkey is the smallest of the full-size Berkey gravity systems, holding 1.5 gallons across two nesting AISI 304 stainless steel chambers. It runs on gravity alone, with no electricity, plumbing or line pressure involved.
It ships with two Black Berkey elements, which is also the maximum the upper chamber accepts, and filters up to 2.75 gallons per hour with the top chamber kept full. Two optional PF-2 elements can be fitted below the Black Berkeys to add fluoride and arsenic reduction.
At 18 in. tall and 7.5 in. across it nests down for storage and fits a suitcase, which is why this size is bought mainly for apartments, dorms, RVs and go-bags rather than as a primary kitchen filter.
