Ten Years Of Media, No Test Report Anywhere
Expert Score

This is the whole-house filter for a city household on chlorinated or chloraminated supply that does not want a drain line or a power outlet. Its strongest attribute is the media life claim, since 600,000 to 1,000,000 gallons and six to ten years is genuinely long, and upflow beds do run longer than downflow ones because they resist channelling. Its weakest is that the product title claims PFAS reduction and no part of the page supports it with a percentage, a test method or a certifying body. The buyer is trading verification for simplicity and a single-size install that removes the sizing decision entirely. Without backwashing there is no mechanism for clearing sediment out of the bed, so a spin-down or cartridge pre-filter is effectively required on anything but clean municipal water.

PROS
  • No electricity, no drain connection and no wastewater
  • Media life stated at 600,000 to 1,000,000 gallons
  • A single size covers one to six bathrooms, removing the sizing decision
  • Catalytic carbon is the right media for chloramine rather than plain activated carbon
  • Lifetime warranty stated by SoftPro
CONS
  • PFAS reduction is claimed in the product title with no test data behind it
  • No reduction percentage published for chlorine, chloramine or any listed contaminant
  • No rated service flow rate
  • No NSF or WQA certification exists under the SoftPro name
  • No backwash means sediment has to be handled by a separate pre-filter

The Chlorine+ is SoftPro's upflow catalytic carbon filter for city water, sold in a single 1.5 cubic foot size covering one to six bathrooms. It uses no electricity, produces no wastewater and does not backwash, relying on upflow through the bed instead. SoftPro states the media is tested to between 600,000 and 1,000,000 gallons and lasts six to ten years.

Social Scores

Social Score

Brand-level. SoftPro's independent coverage is concentrated almost entirely on the Elite softener line, so the scores below are brand-level and reduced where they are applied to a product the pools do not discuss. SoftPro also operates qualitywatertreatment.com and the Quality Water Treatment YouTube channel, and neither is counted as an independent source.

Reddit Score4.0

Brand-level. Three threads carry the pool: an r/Plumbing question about the Elite softener, an r/WaterTreatment post titled as a warning about SoftPro, and an r/Plumbing post describing a defective unit shedding media into household fixtures. Comment on the engineering is broadly positive; the recurring complaint is customer service after the sale. Thread bodies were read through search snippets rather than full extraction.

Google Score6.0

Brand-level. WaterFilterGuru bench-tested a SoftPro Elite on a 120 ppm private well in Milner, Colorado and measured better than 99 percent calcium and magnesium reduction, ranking it second among salt-based softeners at 4.5 out of 5. QualityWaterLab rates the Elite 4.5 out of 5. No independent publication covers SoftPro's filtration products separately from its softeners.

YouTube Score6.0

Brand-level. WaterFilterGuru's SoftPro Elite install-and-test video has roughly 22,000 views and states it is not sponsored. SoftPro's own Quality Water Treatment channel publishes more SoftPro content than anyone else and is excluded. No independent video coverage of anything other than the Elite softener was found.

User Review Score7.0

Brand-level. SoftPro sells factory-direct, so there is no retailer pool. Two third-party profiles exist and disagree: Trustpilot shows 4 out of 5 from 14 reviews for softprowatersystems.com, while the BBB shows 2.78 out of 5 from 9 customer reviews for Quality Water Treatment, Inc., the same operator. Neither entity is BBB accredited and both pools are small. The 8,000-plus review count shown across SoftPro's own product pages is its own widget and is not counted.
