Usability
Adding UV to HealthShield produces the most comprehensively certified system Aquasana sells and the most expensive one, and it is aimed at an untreated private well rather than at municipal water. Its strongest attribute is that double certification: NSF/ANSI 53 and 401 for chemical reduction and NSF/ANSI 55 Class B for microbiological sterilisation, supplied pre-configured so there is no separate UV purchase to get wrong. Its weakest is running cost, because a 165,000 gallon tank roughly every two years and a UV lamp every twelve months sit on top of $5,796, under a two-year warranty. The chlorine and chloramine percentages Aquasana prints are its own internal testing rather than part of the certified set. Launched in August 2026, the platform has no independent review, no laboratory test and no listing at any marketplace or retailer, so a buyer at this price has only the manufacturer's word and a certifier row to work from. On a well that has tested positive for both chemistry and bacteria the case is real; on municipal water it is very hard to make.
- Certified to NSF/ANSI 53 and 401 and CSA B483.1 for chemical reduction
- UV certified to NSF/ANSI 55 Class B, sterilising up to 99.8% of bacteria and viruses
- Certified reduction of 99.9% of PFAS to below 4 parts per trillion
- Ships pre-configured, so no separate UV purchase or fitting decision
- Touchscreen flow meter shows live flow rate and remaining gallons
- $5,796 before any further upgrades, on a 165,000 gallon or roughly 2-year tank life
- 2-year limited warranty despite the cost
- UV lamp is an annual replacement and the unit draws mains power continuously
- The 97.4% chlorine and 97.49% chloramine figures are internally tested, not part of the certified set
- 5.7 GPM rated flow is low for a system at this price
- No independent review, no laboratory test and no retailer listing exists for this system
This is the HealthShield whole house system supplied with the Max Flow UV filter fitted, the configuration Aquasana recommends for private well supplies. Filtration is unchanged: WQA tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 53 and 401 and CSA B483.1 for up to 99.9% of PFAS to below 4 parts per trillion, 99.8% of VOCs and 94.7% of BPA and ibuprofen, over 165,000 gallons or roughly two years. Chlorine and chloramine reduction, published at 97.4% and 97.49%, is Aquasana's internal testing rather than part of the certified set.
The UV stage sterilizes up to 99.8% of bacteria and nonpathogenic viruses and is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 55, Class B. It runs on mains power, must be left switched on continuously, and the lamp is an annual replacement.
The UV filter adds $1,598 over the base HealthShield, the same price Aquasana charges to add it to any Rhino system.
