The reason to buy this pitcher over a supermarket one is the cartridge menu: fluoride removal, arsenic removal, deionising and alkalising all drop into the same 12-cup body for three dollars over the standard SMART cartridge. A DI cartridge in a pitcher is genuinely unusual and useful for anyone who needs low-TDS water without plumbing anything. Crystal Quest states that the individual media received certification, naming Standard 42 for the Eagle Redox Alloy 6500 and WQA certification to Standard 61 for the ion exchange resin, but those are raw material certifications held upstream and no finished pitcher appears in any certifier database under the Crystal Quest name. The 12-month cartridge life is honest and long by pitcher standards. What the buyer trades away is any tested reduction figure for the fluoride, arsenic or DI cartridges that are the whole reason to choose it.
