Acidic well water eats copper plumbing from the inside and a calcite bed is the accepted fix, so this system solves a real and expensive problem. Its strongest attribute is that it addresses the cause rather than the symptom: raising pH stops the corrosion instead of filtering out the metals the corrosion produces. Its weakest is disclosure of a different kind from the rest of the catalogue, because SoftPro publishes no influent pH range, no target output pH and no media top-up interval, and this is the one product page in the range carrying no lifetime warranty badge. The buyer is also trading pH for hardness, since dissolving calcite is by definition adding calcium, which normally means budgeting for a softener downstream. The pH Neutralizer is a backwashing calcite filter for acidic well water, sold in 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 cubic foot sizes matched to well pumps delivering 5 to 7, 8 to 10 and 10-plus GPM.
