Usability
4.4 out of 10It suits a buyer building a 120 V off-grid or backup system on a 48 V bank who wants solar, utility and generator charging with a 10 ms transfer in one box, and who will not need 240 V output or a second unit in parallel.
Strengths
- 3,500 W continuous and 7,000 W surge for 1 second
- 80 A MPPT controller taking up to 150 V and 4,400 W of PV
- 10 ms transfer between utility and battery
- Reads a lithium battery's BMS over RS485 to set charge and discharge current
- 25 W EcoSleep power-saving mode against 48 W idle
Drawbacks
- Recognized Component records onlythough its page claims a UL 458 and UL 1741 listing
- Bluetooth needs the separate BT-2 module
- No parallel stacking or 240 V split-phase output
- 48 W idle draw13.7 W per kW of rating
- AC charger tops at 40 Athe 120 A total needs 80 A of solar alongside

Renogy is the brand of RNG International, Inc., of Ontario, California, which Dr. Yi Li founded in 2010.
It sells direct from renogy.com and its Amazon and eBay brand stores, and through Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy, Camping World and Walmart's marketplace.
The Renogy RIV4835PCS-1SS is a 48 V all-in-one inverter charger: a 3,500 W pure sine wave inverter (at 25 °C), rated 7,000 W surge for one second, with an 80 A MPPT solar charge controller and a 40 A AC battery charger, by Renogy's datasheet. Output is 120 VAC, configurable from 100 to 120 V in 5 V steps, at 50 or 60 Hz with under 3 percent THD. It runs from a 48 V battery between 40 and 60 V and starts at 44 V. The AC input takes 85 to 140 VAC at up to 40 A, the transfer relay is rated 30 A continuous and 40 A surge, and transfer takes 10 ms. The solar input accepts 60 to 150 V (145 V recommended), 50 A and 4,400 W, with an MPPT window of 60 to 120 V on the product page and 4,200 W of charge output; solar and AC charging together are set from 5 to 120 A in 5 A steps. Renogy rates idle draw at 48 W (the datasheet prints 50 W) and 25 W in its EcoSleep power-saving mode, and the product page rates peak efficiency above 95 percent. It has an LCD with LED indicators, an RS485 port that reads a compatible lithium battery's BMS to set charge and discharge current, a CAN port marked reserve, a dry-contact port to start and stop an auto-start generator, and a port for Renogy's optional BT-2 Bluetooth module and DC Home app. It measures 444.8 x 330 x 124 mm (17.51 x 12.99 x 4.88 in) and weighs 22.4 lb. The quick guide lists in the box a wired remote (RMS-P2) with a 5 m RJ12 cable, two M6 ring terminals and two M6 nuts. Renogy sells it alone at $599.99.
