That makes it the easiest product here to assess: coarse enough to keep flow up in a small house, fine enough to be doing real carbon work on chlorine and taste. The 20,000 gallon interval is the constraint, and with two cartridges to replace instead of one the running cost is the highest per gallon in the line. Conditioning chelates hardness rather than removing it, so this does not replace a softener on hard water. NuvoH2O states compliance with NSF/ANSI 42 and holds no certifier listing for the system.
