Full-Body Coverage, Two Power Bricks, One-Year Promise

The MitoPOD is a lie-inside neoprene pod that lights most of the body at once, at $1,699. Nobody has measured its output: Mito states 30 mW/cm2 at the surface directly over an LED, and its own manual gives 22.4. UL lists the finished pod as applied-energy equipment; there is no 510(k). Two of five owners on Reddit say the two cords, two power bricks and two controllers make it awkward enough that they rarely use it, and one found it too short. Mito's own product page says flexible devices are far less durable than its panels, which is why the pod carries 1 year of warranty against 3 on the panels. Against two full-body panels it trades their distance-based output for lie-down sessions with nothing to mount.

PROS
  • UL listing on the finished pod
  • Covers most of the body in one session
  • Brightness 1 to 100 percent and 1 to 20 minute timer
  • Neoprene shell named; travel bag included
  • 60-day return with no restocking fee
CONS
  • No output measurement; 30 on the page against 22.4 mW/cm2 in the manual
  • Two cords, two power bricks, two controllers
  • 1-year warranty, replacement only
  • Mito calls flexible devices less durable than its panels
  • No independent test of the stated wavelengths

The MitoPOD is a flexible neoprene pod that unfolds to 62 x 54 in and that the user lies inside, lined with 2,320 three-chip LEDs at 660, 810 and 830 nm, two-thirds near-infrared. It runs from two 97 W mains supplies with brightness from 1 to 100 percent and a 1 to 20 minute timer, weighs 15 lb and comes with a travel bag. Mito states 30 mW/cm2 at the surface, directly over an LED.

Mito Red Light, LLC of Scottsdale, Arizona sells direct from mitoredlight.com, and on Amazon only its 2.0 panels. Its Trustpilot profile reads 4.4 from 1,076 reviews, which Mito invites, split 76 percent five-star against 9 percent one-star, and it replies to 99 percent of negative reviews; the BBB rates it A and has accredited it since September 2021. No US retailer publishes its own reviews of a Mito device: Best Buy's marketplace listings, sold under Mito's trade name MRL Horizons LLC, carry ratings syndicated from mitoredlight.com, so the retailer pool is empty at every level. Mito's one recall, of the discontinued Mito Mobile Super for a battery fire risk, does not cover this device.
