The Most Wavelengths, Mid-Pack Output for the Price

The MitoADAPT MAX 4.0 is Mito's flagship single panel, eight wavelengths on separate circuits and 11 modes on a 432 sq in face, at $1,499. Light Therapy Insiders, which was sent the unit free, earns a commission on Mito sales and carries YouTube's paid-promotion label on its video, measured 58 mW/cm2 averaged over nine points at 6 inches and 74 peak, which it calls mid-pack output for the price. Mito's own lab report, commissioned from LightLab International, puts the average at 49.4, against the more than 140 on the page from a solar meter. The same independent test found all eight peaks but the amber at 599 nm rather than 590. UL lists the finished panel as general medical equipment; there is no 510(k), and no ETL listing covers the 4.0. The buyer pays $200 more than the MitoPRO 1500X for the 670 and 940 nm channels and per-wavelength switching, on a cramped touchscreen.

PROS
  • Measured 58 mW/cm2 at 6 in by Light Therapy Insiders
  • Eight peaks confirmed on a spectrometer; lab spectrum published
  • UL listing on the finished panel
  • Door hook, cables and straps included; touchscreen and app
  • 3-year warranty and 60-day return with no restocking fee
CONS
  • Claimed >140 mW/cm2 is a solar-meter figure
  • Output mid-pack for $1,499, per Light Therapy Insiders
  • Amber measured at 599 nm, not the listed 590
  • No 510(k), and no ETL listing covers the 4.0 despite the claim
  • Cramped touchscreen, modes unlabeled on the panel

The MitoADAPT MAX 4.0 is the full-body size of the MitoADAPT 4.0 series: a 12 x 36 in panel, 25 lb, with 288 dual-chip LEDs at eight peaks from 590 to 940 nm on separate circuits, giving 11 modes. Mito lists 460 W, and its lab measured 456.1 W at the wall. It runs from a touchscreen or Bluetooth app and ships with a door hook, steel cables and straps.

Brand-level

Mito Red Light, LLC of Scottsdale, Arizona sells direct from mitoredlight.com, and on Amazon only its 2.0 panels. Its Trustpilot profile reads 4.4 from 1,076 reviews, which Mito invites, split 76 percent five-star against 9 percent one-star, and it replies to 99 percent of negative reviews; the BBB rates it A and has accredited it since September 2021. No US retailer publishes its own reviews of a Mito device: Best Buy's marketplace listings, sold under Mito's trade name MRL Horizons LLC, carry ratings syndicated from mitoredlight.com, so the retailer pool is empty at every level. Mito's one recall, of the discontinued Mito Mobile Super for a battery fire risk, does not cover this device.
