The E-2000 is aimed at a household whose complaint is scale on the glassware and the water heater, not the taste at the tap. Its strongest attribute is what it avoids: no salt bags, no brine discharge, no electricity, no drain, and a wall bracket instead of two floor tanks, which matters if the utility room is already full. Hardness tolerance is high at 1,282 PPM or 75 grains per gallon, and it holds a full 15 GPM. The weakest attribute is that it is the only Kind city-water system with no carbon block, so chlorine, chloramine and organic chemistry pass straight through and its certifications drop to NSF/ANSI 61 and 372, both of which are materials safety listings and neither of which is a performance claim about anything. Buyers should also understand what salt-free conditioning does and does not do: it reduces adhesion of scale, which Kind quotes at 88 percent, but hardness minerals remain in the water, so a hardness test after installation will read the same as before. Anyone expecting the slippery feel of true soft water will be disappointed and should look at the S-650 instead. The E-2000 is a two-stage wall-mounted system pairing a 5-micron pleated sediment cartridge with salt-free conditioning media.
