This is the system for a city-water household that wants scale protection without a brine tank, and it is priced within $70 of SoftPro's flagship salt-based softener. Its strongest attribute is the published 12 GPM rating and the roughly six-year media life, both of which SoftPro states plainly and neither of which it states for most of the range. Its weakest is evidentiary: the headline 99.6 percent scale prevention figure appears with no test method, no sample size and no certifying body, and the NSF / WQA / ANSI badge on the page corresponds to no listing under the SoftPro name. The buyer is trading measurable hardness removal for zero salt, zero power and zero wastewater, which is a real trade but one that leaves hardness in the water and a hardness test unchanged. At $1,299 against $1,367 for the Elite softener, the decision is about maintenance appetite rather than money.
- 12 GPM rated service flow, published by SoftPro
- Media life of around six years with no salt and no wastewater
- Leaves calcium and magnesium in the water rather than exchanging them for sodium
- Lifetime warranty
- Sized simply, by bathroom count up to six
- The 99.6 percent scale prevention figure carries no test method or certifying body
- The product page shows an NSF / WQA / ANSI badge with no listing behind it
- Prevents scale but does not reduce hardness, so a hardness test still reads high
- Costs about the same as the Elite softener while doing considerably less
- No independent review coverage of this model exists
The Elite Salt Free is a template-assisted crystallization conditioner for city water, sized by bathroom count up to six and rated by SoftPro at 12 GPM. It uses no salt, no electricity and produces no wastewater, and SoftPro states a media life of around six years. The unit is built by Nelsen Corp, and SoftPro claims 99.6 percent scale prevention without naming a test method or a laboratory.
