The Epoch DP12300H is a 12.8 V, 300 Ah dual-purpose LiFePO4 battery in the Pro Series, storing 3.84 kWh (3,840 Wh) in a BCI Group 8D case with twelve cells in a 4S3P layout.
It is rated to crank engines at 1,000 A for up to 5 seconds and 800 A for up to 10 seconds, tested above 60 percent charge at 25°C, and Epoch cites Mercury 250 hp outboards; it is rated by peak current, not CCA.
Its BMS allows 300 A continuous discharge and charge, with 150 A recommended, and cuts off a short circuit at 1,200 A within 500 µs. With a charger connected in the cold, an internal heating film warms the battery to 10°C before charging, so it charges from −20 to 55°C and discharges from −20 to 60°C.
The Epoch Pro app shows state of charge, voltage, current, temperature and alerts over Bluetooth and installs firmware over the air. CAN Link in and Link out ports network a bank; Victron and NMEA 2000 connection goes through Epoch's separate Pro Series communications box.
Up to four run in series and sixteen in parallel at 12 V, to a 4S4P maximum with series strings. The IP67 case has heat-sink fins, a pressure-relief valve, a mounting bracket and M8 terminals, measures 19.7 x 10.5 x 9.75 in (500 x 267 x 248 mm) and weighs 81 lb (36.7 kg).
Epoch rates it for more than 6,000 cycles at 0.2C and 80 percent depth of discharge to 80 percent of initial capacity.
