Usability
The siliphos version is the one to buy if the house has hard water and no softener, because ten dollars is a trivial premium for a stage that measurably slows scale forming in the tap, the aerator and anything downstream on that line. Aquasure also rates this cartridge at twelve to eighteen months against a flat twelve for the plain version, so the running cost is marginally lower over time despite the higher purchase price. The scale inhibition is sequestration rather than removal: hardness minerals are still in the water, they are simply kept from depositing, so this does nothing for how the water feels or how soap behaves. Everything else matches the standard Compact, including the 2.6 GPM flow, the twist-and-lock cartridge and the absence of any certification behind the chlorine and heavy metal claims. It is the better of the two compact models and costs almost nothing extra to choose.

The Aquasure Fortitude Compact Siliphos is the under-sink inline filter with a polyphosphate scale-inhibiting stage added to the carbon and KDF media. Aquasure states the siliphos forms a protective coating on metal surfaces downstream and inhibits the corrosion associated with hard water. The cartridge is rated at 10,000 gallons or twelve to eighteen months under part number AF-FC50-KS, and flow is stated at up to 2.6 GPM.
