Usability
This is the cheapest way into Claryum filtration and it is aimed at a household that wants certified lead and PFAS reduction at one tap without paying for capacity it will not use. Its strongest attribute is paperwork that the rest of the brand does not match: WQA certification to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 including P473, and 401, with PFOA and PFOS tested to 20 parts per trillion, and a Consumer Reports overall score of 78 on the same platform. It also retains calcium, magnesium and potassium rather than stripping every mineral, which is the specific reason owners on water-treatment forums recommend it over reverse osmosis. Its weakest is cartridge life: 500 gallons or six months is the shortest in the under-sink range, on a one-year warranty. Rated flow of 0.5 GPM is slow enough to notice filling a pot, and the system needs a spare sink hole for its dedicated faucet. The trade is the strongest certification in the range bought at the smallest scale, so the running cost per gallon is the highest of the three.
- WQA tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 including P473, and 401
- 99.7% PFOA and PFOS reduction, tested to 20 parts per trillion
- 99.6% microplastics and lead, 99.995% cysts
- Retains calcium, magnesium and potassium rather than stripping all minerals
- DIY install with no plumber, and filters twist off without disconnecting lines
- Cheapest entry to Claryum filtration at $249.99
- 500 gallons or six months is the shortest cartridge life in the under sink range
- 0.5 GPM rated flow is slow for filling pots and bottles
- 1-year limited warranty
- Needs a spare sink hole for the dedicated faucet, or the Direct Connect instead
- Owner reports of leaks on this platform centre on over-tightened housings and worn O-rings
- Filters cannot be recycled
The Claryum 2-Stage is the entry point to Aquasana's under sink range. Two cartridges combine activated and catalytic carbon with ion exchange, sub-micron filtration and an organic adsorbent booster, and the system feeds a dedicated all-metal faucet that mounts in a spare sink hole.
Certification is the reason to buy it. It is WQA tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 including P473, and 401, for 99.995% of cysts, 99.6% of microplastics and lead, 99.7% of PFOA and PFOS, 97.3% of chlorine and 91% of chloramines. The PFAS figure is tested down to 20 parts per trillion under NSF's stricter protocol, which is a materially harder test than the one most competitors quote.
Capacity is 500 gallons or about six months, the shortest in the range, and rated flow is 0.5 GPM. The faucet comes in brushed nickel, chrome, matte black and oil rubbed bronze, or you can order the system without one and use your own.
