Usability
For renters and anyone without a spare sink hole this is the only Claryum system that works, and it happens to be the fastest and joint-cheapest as well. Its strongest attribute is the install: it ties into the cold line and runs through the faucet already fitted, at 1.5 GPM, three times the flow of the 2-Stage, and the whole thing is reversible when the tenancy ends. Its weakest is that a single large cartridge means no sediment pre-filtration, and a major reviewer found the consequence directly — the filter clogged and stopped working when a burst of rust came through the pipes. The reduction figures also trail the dedicated-faucet systems, 95 percent PFOA and PFOS against 99.7, and everything drawn from that tap is filtered, so cartridge life is spent on washing up as well as drinking. Owner reports concentrate on two things the design invites: a leak at the dual-port adapter, and reduced cold-water pressure in homes that had little to spare. The trade is the only Claryum a renter can fit, bought at some cost in reduction, in protection and in where the cartridge life goes.
- No dedicated faucet or sink hole required, filters through the existing tap
- 1.5 GPM, three times the flow of the 2-Stage
- IAPMO tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 including P473, and 401
- 784 gallons, second only to the 3-Stage Max Flow
- Easiest install in the range and fully reversible for renters
- No sediment pre-filtration, and independent testing recorded it clogging when rust came through the line
- Reduction figures trail the dedicated-faucet systems, 95% PFOA and PFOS against 99.7%
- All cold water through that tap is filtered, so cartridge life goes on dishwashing too
- Owner reports centre on leaks at the dual-port adapter and reduced cold-water pressure
- 20 inch cartridge needs vertical clearance and some cabinets take it only lying down
- 1-year limited warranty
The Claryum Direct Connect solves the problem that rules out the rest of the range for a lot of people: it needs no spare sink hole and no dedicated faucet. A single large cartridge plumbs into the cold water line and filtered water comes out of the faucet already on your sink.
It is IAPMO tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 including P473, and 401, for over 96% of chlorine and chloramines, 99% of lead and microplastics and 95% of PFOA and PFOS. Those figures sit slightly below the dedicated-faucet Claryum systems, which is the trade for the simpler plumbing.
Flow is 1.5 GPM, three times the 2-Stage and the fastest in the under sink range, and capacity is 784 gallons or about six months. It tolerates a wider pressure and temperature range than the rest of the line, which makes it the sensible pick for renters and awkward installs.
