Usability
This configuration suits a household with hard water and a microbiological concern but no chlorine problem, which in practice usually means a private supply or a municipality that does not chlorinate heavily. The UV stage is the best-certified component Kind sells, holding NSF/ANSI 55 for disinfection performance, and the 316L stainless chamber is better hardware than the plastic UV housings common at this price. The scale side is unchanged from the E-2000: adhesion reduction rather than hardness removal, tolerant to 75 grains per gallon, no salt and no wastewater. The weakest attribute is the combination's internal logic. It costs more than the E-3000, which adds a carbon block instead of UV, and roughly the same as the E-3000UV list price minus a few hundred dollars while filtering considerably less. Certification on the treatment stages remains NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 only, both materials listings, and the UV needs power where the rest of the system deliberately does not. Most buyers looking at this model would be better served by the E-3000UV unless they are certain chlorine is not present.
- NSF/ANSI 55 certification for disinfection performance on the UV stage
- 316L stainless steel UV chamber with quartz sleeve
- Salt-free scale control to 75 grains per gallon with no brine discharge
- Full 15 GPM flow, wall-mounted with no floor tanks
- Lifetime limited warranty plus a 120-day satisfaction guarantee
- Costs more than the E-3000 while filtering less, since it trades the carbon block for UV
- No carbon stage, so chlorine, chloramine and taste are unaddressed
- Treatment stages certified only to NSF/ANSI 61 and 372, both materials listings
- Requires a 110V outlet and indoor installation, unlike the base E-2000
- Annual UV lamp and quartz sleeve replacement on top of cartridges
The E-2000UV is the sediment and salt-free conditioning E-2000 with Kind's 50-watt UV chamber added as a third stage. The UV module is 316L stainless steel with a quartz sleeve and is certified to NSF/ANSI 55 for disinfection performance. It needs a 110V outlet and an annual lamp and sleeve change, and must be installed indoors. As with the base model there is no carbon stage, so chlorine passes through untreated.
