Kind Water Systems SF-600 Review
Expert Score

The SF-600 is the tank equivalent of the E-2000, sold into the well-water side of Kind's catalogue but functionally a scale-control-only unit for any supply. Its strongest attribute is the maintenance profile: a large conditioning bed that needs no salt, no regeneration, no drain connection and no power, with only the sediment pre-filter as a routine consumable. That is a meaningfully lower running cost than any ion-exchange softener. Its weakest attribute is the same one the E-2000 has, that conditioning does not soften water in the sense most buyers mean. Hardness minerals remain, a hardness test reads unchanged, and the water will not feel slippery. Certification is NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 only, both materials safety listings that make no performance claim, and there is no carbon stage so chlorine and organics pass through. It also costs more than the wall-mounted E-2000 while flowing less, 12 GPM against 15, and occupies a 53 by 24 by 15 inch floor footprint the E-2000 avoids entirely. The case for it over the E-2000 rests on media bed longevity rather than performance, and Kind does not publish a service life figure for the bed. The buyer trades measurable softness and chlorine reduction for the lowest-maintenance scale control in the range.

PROS
  • No salt, no brine tank, no drain line and no wastewater
  • Needs no electricity, so it keeps working through a power cut
  • Large conditioning bed rather than a replaceable conditioning cartridge
  • Only routine consumable is the 5-micron sediment pre-filter
  • Lifetime limited warranty plus a 120-day satisfaction guarantee
CONS
  • Conditioning does not remove hardness, so post-install hardness tests read unchanged
  • Certified only to NSF/ANSI 61 and 372, both materials listings rather than performance standards
  • No carbon stage, so chlorine, chloramine and taste are unaddressed
  • Costs more than the wall-mounted E-2000 while flowing 12 GPM against 15
  • Kind publishes no service life figure for the conditioning bed

The SF-600 is Kind's tank-based salt-free conditioner, pairing a 5-micron sediment cartridge with an eSoft conditioning bed in a 53-inch floor-standing tank. It crystallises hardness minerals so they will not adhere rather than removing them, so it needs no salt, no brine tank, no drain and no electricity. Flow is rated to 12 GPM. There is no carbon stage, so chlorine and taste are untreated.

Social Scores

Social Score

Brand-level. Kind sells factory-direct and its own product pages carry only its in-house review widget, which is not treated as a pool here. No product-level pool exists for this model. The Amazon and retailer scores are blank for reasons given in each.

Reddit Score6.0

Brand-level. Discussion is thin but real, concentrated in r/WaterFilters and r/homeownerstips. Owners report straightforward DIY installation, a clear drop in chlorine taste and less scale on fixtures. The recurring complaint is price, and one long-running thread tracks Kind's discounting closely enough to conclude the advertised list price is almost never what a buyer pays.

Google Score7.0

Brand-level. Independent written coverage exists but is limited. The Gadgeteer published a hands-on review of the E-3000UV, and Kind turns up as a named comparison point in whole-house filter roundups. Most remaining search results are affiliate roundups rather than testing.

YouTube Score6.0

Brand-level. YouTube coverage of Kind concentrates almost entirely on the wall-mounted E-series cartridge systems. The tank-based conditioners and softeners have no comparable independent testing, so this score reflects the brand rather than the product and should be read as thin.
