Usability
Adding UV to HealthShield produces the most comprehensively certified system Aquasana sells: NSF/ANSI 53 and 401 for chemical reduction and NSF/ANSI 55 Class B for microbiological sterilisation. It also produces the highest running cost in the range, since you are replacing a 165,000 gallon tank roughly every two years and a UV lamp every twelve months, on a 2-year warranty. Justified on an untreated well, hard to justify on municipal water.

This is the HealthShield whole house system supplied with the Max Flow UV filter fitted, the configuration Aquasana recommends for private well supplies. Filtration is unchanged: WQA tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 53 and 401 and CSA B483.1 for up to 99.9% reduction across 61 contaminants including PFAS, VOCs, pharmaceuticals, chlorine and chloramines, for 165,000 gallons or roughly two years.
The UV stage sterilizes up to 99.8% of bacteria and nonpathogenic viruses and is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 55, Class B. It runs on mains power, must be left switched on continuously, and the lamp is an annual replacement.
The UV filter adds $1,598 over the base HealthShield, the same price Aquasana charges to add it to any Rhino system.
