The CTF-09 is the CTF-01 with a second stage and a cartridge choice: the CFF-05 at 5,000 gallons or the CFF-06 at 8,000. Its distinguishing feature is media that inhibits microbial growth inside the housing, which addresses the real weakness of countertop filters left standing between uses. At $119.99 it is $40 more than the CTF-01 for that second stage, and like its sibling there is no published NSF/ANSI mark and no alkaline stage. Worth it if the microbial point matters to you; otherwise the CTF-01 does most of the same job for less.
