The MicroPRO is for a household on a private well or an intermittently unreliable supply that already has carbon filtration and wants a microbiological barrier at the tap. Its strongest attribute is the LED architecture: no mercury, no warm-up, no annual lamp to buy, and a footprint small enough to fit beside a filter housing rather than needing its own cabinet. Its weakest is that WaterChef publishes no NSF/ANSI 55 certification for it, so the 99.99 percent figure is a manufacturer claim on a product class where an independent listing is the whole point. The one-year warranty also sits oddly against the lifetime cover on the filtration systems it is sold to accompany. At $373.96 it costs three quarters of a U9000 while removing nothing chemical.
