Usability
The 12 GPM Quantum is the size most households actually need, and eighty dollars over the 8 GPM unit buys four extra GPM and seven more watts of lamp, which is the better buy across the range. Build is the same 304 stainless chamber, the working pressure ceiling is 80 psi, and it mounts either way round with no inlet or outlet preference. Aquasure is admirably direct in its own product answers about what this does not do: it will not remove chlorine, will not reduce nitrates, will not kill parasites and, contradicting the marketing copy on the same page, will not remove PFAS. That last contradiction between the description and the specification sheet is on Aquasure's own page and one buyer asked about it directly. Connection size was omitted from the listing entirely until a customer complained about receiving 3/4 inch fittings he did not expect. There is no NSF/ANSI 55 certification, which for a disinfection product is the one standard worth having, and no independent review pool of any kind.
- 39 watt lamp and 12 GPM rating, the best value point in the Quantum range
- 304 stainless steel chamber with an 80 psi working pressure ceiling
- Mounts horizontally or vertically with no inlet or outlet orientation requirement
- Lamp and quartz sleeve part numbers both published
- Three year warranty on registration within 60 days
- No NSF/ANSI 55 certification to verify UV dose on a disinfection product
- Aquasure's description claims PFAS inactivation while its own specification sheet and support both say no
- Connection size was absent from the listing until a customer complained about it
- No flow sensor: the lamp is powered continuously regardless of water use
- Does not remove chlorine, nitrates or parasites, by Aquasure's own answers
- Only two reviews on the manufacturer's own page and no independent coverage located
The Aquasure Quantum Series 12 GPM is the mid-size single-stage ultraviolet system, running a 39 watt UV-C lamp in a 304 stainless steel chamber and rated by the manufacturer for three to four bathrooms and up to six people. It ships with 3/4 inch fittings, carries a maximum working pressure of 80 psi and can be mounted horizontally or vertically. The lamp is replaced annually under part number AF-UV12-BULB and the quartz sleeve under AF-UV12-SLEEVE.
