Usability
The Bodyguard is the media-tank counterpart to the cartridge-based Magna and the better choice where chloramine is the problem, because catalytic carbon addresses chloramine far more effectively than standard GAC. Adding KDF-55 ahead of the carbon extends bed life and suppresses bacterial growth in the tank. The 1-inch porting is the meaningful engineering claim here and the peak flow figure of 25 GPM reflects it. Certification is limited to components meeting NSF/ANSI 61 and 42, which covers materials safety and aesthetic effects; there is no system-level health-effects certification under 53, and the company does not claim one. Media replacement is a rebed rather than a cartridge swap, which is cheaper over time but a longer job.

A single-tank upflow media filter for chlorine, chloramine and chemical removal on city water. The bed combines catalytic carbon, GAC, KDF-55 and quartz gravel, fronted by a 5-micron Magna pleated prefilter. Full 1-inch or larger internal porting gives a peak flow of 25 GPM. No backwash valve on this model, so there is no drain line or wastewater.
