Pairing high-output UV with integrated pre-filtration on one bracket is the right engineering answer for a well, because UV dose collapses when turbidity blocks the lamp and a bare chamber cannot protect itself. At 18 GPM and 48 watts this is the only Aquasure UV product with enough capacity for a large house, and the multi-stage arrangement is what separates it from bolting the 12 GPM unit behind a cartridge filter. The price is the objection: a thousand dollars buys a certified UV system from several competitors, and this one carries no NSF/ANSI 55 listing at all, which is the standard written specifically to verify that a UV system delivers its claimed dose. For a product sold to people whose water may be microbiologically unsafe, an unverified dose is a materially different proposition than an unverified taste claim. Filters are replaced as a kit rather than individually, which raises running cost. It also rates lowest of the three Quantum units at Home Depot, on a small pool.
- 48 watt high-output lamp and 18 GPM, the only Aquasure UV system sized for a large home
- Integrated pre-filtration protects UV dose from turbidity rather than leaving it exposed
- 304 stainless steel chamber
- Aimed explicitly at well water and untreated supplies rather than municipal polish
- Three year warranty on registration within 60 days
- No NSF/ANSI 55 certification, which on a disinfection product is the certification that matters
- A thousand dollars buys a certified UV system from several competitors
- Replacement filters are sold as a kit rather than individually, raising running cost
- No flow sensor: the lamp runs continuously
- Rates 4.2 of 5 at Home Depot, the lowest of the three Quantum units
- No published dimensions for a wall-mounted assembly of this size
The Aquasure Quantum Series 18 GPM Multi-Stage combines a 48 watt high-output UV-C chamber with upstream filtration stages in a single mounted assembly, sized by the manufacturer for four to six or more bathrooms and up to eight people. The chamber is 304 stainless steel and the system is aimed specifically at well water and untreated supplies. Replacement filters are sold as a kit under AF-WHUV18HO.
