A Cleared LED Ring, One Patch Of Face At A Time

The TheraFace PRO is a multi-tool rather than a light device first: percussion, microcurrent and cleansing share the handle with an LED ring at 633, 830 and 415 nm that treats one patch of face at a time from half an inch away. The ring's clearance is K212155, the TheraFace LED, cleared in December 2021 for Theragun, Inc., Therabody's former name; it lists the same three wavelengths, and the FDA lists it as the TheraFace PRO LED attachment, so it scores 7 on verification. Therabody's manual gives 60 mW/cm2 red and 70 mW/cm2 red with near-infrared where the filing gives 73, and no independent measurement has been published, so light output is not scored. As a spot device it scores 1 on coverage, and four Reddit owners and Jillian Gottlieb say a full face takes long enough that they use a mask for light instead. About eleven Reddit owners and seven of Best Buy's 20 lowest-rated reviews describe a unit or ring that stopped charging or working, and the rings carry a 90-day warranty against the device's one year. Amazon rates it 3.9 from 194 and Best Buy 4.5 from 241, and at $419.99 it costs $40 more than the Mask Glo, which lights the whole face at once.

PROS
  • LED ring clearance K212155 lists its 633, 830 and 415 nm peaks
  • Six attachments in the box: LED, microcurrent, cleansing and three percussion heads
  • Proximity sensor keeps the ring dim until it is half an inch from the face
  • 112 g and cordless, charging over USB-C
  • Percussion heads used for jaw tension, per about eight Reddit owners
CONS
  • Spot coverage: the ring lights one patch of face at a time
  • Output figures disagree: manual 60 mW/cm2 red, filing 73; none measured
  • Stopped charging or failed, per about eleven Reddit owners and 7 of Best Buy's 20 lowest-rated reviews
  • One-year warranty on the device, 90 days on the rings
  • 38 minutes per charge on therabody.com, 120 in Dermstore's listing
  • Hot and cold rings $109.99 extra

The TheraFace PRO is a handheld facial device that takes magnetic rings: an LED ring with red at 633 nm, near-infrared at 830 nm and blue at 415 nm, a microcurrent ring, a cleansing ring and three percussive massage heads, all in the box. The LED ring is held about half an inch from the face, where a proximity sensor brings it to full brightness, and treats one area at a time. The device weighs 112 g, measures 6 by 1.5 inches and charges over USB-C, and Therabody gives 38 minutes per charge. Heated and cooled rings are sold separately at $109.99.

Therabody holds two Trustpilot profiles. The larger, under theragun.com, reads 1.8 from 1,746 reviews, split 65 percent five-star against 28 percent one-star, and its recent reviews centre on devices that stop charging or fail just past the one-year warranty, batteries that cannot be replaced and repairs refused; the smaller, under therabody.com, reads 1.6 from 70, 89 percent of them one-star, and Therabody has not invited reviews there recently. Therabody, Inc of Los Angeles has been BBB accredited since January 2026 and is rated A+, with 76 complaints closed in three years. The FDA lists one Therabody recall, of a Theragun charger in June 2026, and none of a light device. The ratings on therabody.com, Therabody's own YouTube channel and its account's replies on Reddit are Therabody's own, and no pool below counts them; Walmart's Therabody files are labelled as reviews from Therabody, and Target's reviews syndicated from Therabody are read out of its counts.
