What they say
TherabodyTheraFace PRO
Owners in r/30PlusSkinCare, r/SkincareAddictionLux, r/SkincareAddiction, r/TMJ and r/TheraBody split between long-term users and owners whose units failed.
The most detailed positive account comes from a July 2024 r/30PlusSkinCare thread (35 comments), where one owner was still using it nightly more than two years later and reports firmer skin, alongside retinoids and vitamin C and at the cost of half an hour a night; about eight owners use the percussion heads for jaw tension or sinus pressure, and three say blue light made breakouts fade faster.
The LED ring draws its own complaint: four owners say a ring lighting a couple of inches at a time takes too long to cover the face, one adding that it dims as it moves, and several prefer an Omnilux or other full mask for light.
About eleven owners report a unit or attachment that failed, from a unit that stopped holding a charge within a month to devices that would not power on or charge after one to two and a half years, including a microcurrent ring that stopped connecting at six months and two LED rings that stopped lighting; four describe Therabody declining a repair just outside the one-year warranty and offering a discount or a refurbished unit instead, and a replacement LED ring costs $100.
About six owners say they feel nothing from the microcurrent ring, and in a March 2024 r/TMJ thread (35 comments) three call it a waste of money or returned it.
CellumaPOD S2
Two Reddit owners name the Celluma POD without saying which series they have, and both are positive: one uses it on sore hands after surgery (r/DupuytrenDisease, November 2025), and the other carries it beside a Celluma face panel because it is rigid enough not to bend in a bag (r/redlighttherapy, September 2026).
Two threads asking for POD owners' experiences (March 2024 and July 2025) drew no owner replies.

Magazine reviewers are mostly positive, and none of them measured the LED ring's output.
WIRED (August 2022, a month of daily use) credits the blue light with fewer small breakouts but lists microcurrent efficacy as unclear, a long list of safety warnings and a body that is only water-resistant; Mashable (July 2022, two months) rated it 4.9 out of 5, and Prevention (January 2024, four months) and Who What Wear (December 2024, 40 days) both call it worth the price.
The Strategist's writer, who called in a sample from the brand, was still using it daily after seven months (October 2025) but notes it is less powerful than single-purpose devices and that its LED ring holds far fewer diodes than a mask.
Allure's reviewer (August 2022), who was briefed in a session with Therabody's PR team, found the conductive gel slimy, blamed the cleansing brush for irritation and breakouts, and judged the $99 hot and cold rings not worth buying; Who What Wear's reviewer also skipped the brush for sensitive skin.
Reviewed (December 2023) names price as its only con.

No written test covers the POD in either series; coverage of the handheld is press-release reprints and dealer copy.
Wareable, which earns Amazon commission across the market, rated Celluma's PRO PLUS panel 4.4 out of 5 after four weeks of testing (August 2026), faulting the price, the 30-minute sessions and a battery that lasted about five sessions against Celluma's figure of up to 15, and W Magazine, which earns on sales through its links, found its writer's own Celluma panel worth the price (March 2023).
This is panel coverage read for a handheld, a point lower.

Beauty Beyond 40's Trina Albus, who bought hers on Amazon and marks the video not sponsored, calls it worth the money after an unboxing and first use (October 2022, 33,997 views), but found the LED ring bright enough that she would rather wear goggles, and felt the microcurrent only at its top 500-microamp level.
Penn Smith Skincare, a master esthetician who ordered hers on Amazon and links it with Amazon affiliate links (August 2022, 40,480 views), says the ring, which brightens only when held close to the skin, looks strong enough to do some work where many handheld LEDs do not, while she barely feels the microcurrent.
Jillian Gottlieb (about 29,000 views) likes the percussion heads and the hot ring for jaw tension but would rather use a mask for LED, since a handheld ring reaches one area at a time.
Best Massage Tech, whose description carries buy links, walks through all eight attachments (April 2022, 76,624 views), and Dani Smith, who bought hers on eBay and links it with an affiliate link, mostly uses it for jaw massage after three months and wishes the $109.99 hot and cold rings were included (June 2025, about 5,100 views).
Dermatologist Dr.
Usama Syed does not test the device but calls Therabody's before-and-after marketing misleading (October 2022, 71,705 views).
None of these videos measured the light output.
CellumaPOD S2
The POD videos are clinics selling it, Celluma's own channel and a short demonstration reel by a presenter whose ties are not stated, which counts in no pool.
Makeup artist Nikki DeRoest, who lists the PRO on her ShopMy commission storefront and whose video Celluma republished, calls her PRO panel her key skincare tool in a two-year update (May 2020, about 163,000 views), and Stacey Roshan, who partnered with Celluma to test its CONTOUR system, likes that its panels hold their shape without straps and that one controller runs several of them (April 2026).
This is panel coverage read for a handheld, a point lower.

TherabodyTheraFace PRO
The white TheraFace PRO's Amazon US listing (B09TZ4DPRN), shipped and sold by Therabody's TheraGun store at the $419.99 list price, holds 3.9 from 194 ratings when read in September 2026, split 63 percent five-star against 14 percent one-star, with 9 percent two-star.
Effectiveness is tagged 59 times, 40 positive and 19 negative, and value for money 30 times, 20 negative.
Durability is tagged seven times, all negative, and battery life ten times, seven negative, with reviewers describing a unit that stopped working two months after purchase, one that would not charge above 42 percent within three months, and a drive pin that broke on first use.
Skin improvement (22 mentions, 19 positive), versatility (12, 11 positive), lighting (11, 9 positive) and ease of use (7, all positive) are praised.
The black listing (B09TZ3SL9H) is currently unavailable.
CellumaPOD S2
The POD S2's own listing (B0FR9Y3BWF, $499, sold by Celluma and fulfilled by Amazon) holds no ratings on 2 October 2026.
Celluma's own single-panel listings, sold by Celluma and fulfilled by Amazon, average about 4.1 across 93 ratings on 2 October 2026; the five with ten or more ratings run from 3.3 from 11 on the LITE Series 1, a quarter of them one-star, to 4.6 from 11 on the PRO Series 1.
These describe panels rather than a handheld, so the reading is two points down, for scope and for device type.

Best Buy's file, shared by the white and black listings, holds 4.5 from 241 reviews when read in September 2026, 175 five-star against 11 one-star, with 86 percent recommending it and none attributed to Therabody.
Every review carries Best Buy's note that the reviewer received promotional considerations or a sweepstakes entry, and 199 of the 241 are verified purchases; the unverified ones were mostly posted three to four years ago.
Among the 20 lowest-rated, seven describe a device or attachment that stopped charging, shut off mid-use or failed, from 16 days to eight months in, one noting that the rings carry only a 90-day warranty, and five saw little or no change after weeks to months.
Ease of use is tagged in 40 reviews, overall performance in 32 and battery life in 20, against price in 10.
Walmart's 4.0 from 165 ratings is Therabody's own file, its entries marked as reviews from Therabody or from Influenster, and Nordstrom's 4.0 from 163 shows the same Influenster reviews on a near-identical star split, so neither counts here.
