r/Super73: a two-week-old MZFT Core cut from 20 to 15 mph with dead assist buttons; a new controller did not fix it and the owner filed for a refund (Dec 2025)

  • SUPER73, Inc. of Irvine, California, designs Super73 e-bikes.
  • SUPER73, Inc. is a privately held, venture-backed company founded in 2016.
  • Its e-bikes are sold through the brand's own online store, two Southern California showrooms and a dealer network across North America.
  • Its online store sells moped-style e-bikes in compact, mid-height and tall-rider frames.
  • Of the eight major US retailers, only Dick's Sporting Goods sells a Super73 e-bike (the S2 Laguna, with 1 review); Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Costco, REI, Home Depot and Lowe's carry none (October 2026).

The Super73 MZFT SE is the Special Edition of the compact A-Series model, a Class 2 moped-style e-bike with a 52 V, 15 Ah battery of 780 Wh and a 750 W nominal rear hub motor (torque not published).

It has four-piston hydraulic disc brakes, an adjustable suspension fork with unpublished travel, a rigid rear and 16 in tires 4.5 in wide. It weighs 85 lb, carries riders up to 250 lb and has a 27 in seat height for riders from 4 ft 10 in to 5 ft 10 in.

The maker claims 20 to 25 mi on its 780 Wh battery and 20 mph on throttle or assist. The seat bucket cannot hold two 780 Wh packs, so a dual setup uses two 520 Wh batteries ($495.00 each), for a claimed 35 to 40 mi.

It comes in Baja and Blackout at one price; the MZFT Core with a 520 Wh battery, a 500 W motor and a rigid fork sells for $1,995.00. The digital display shows speed, range and assist level, and the bike has LED lights, a horn and lockable storage with USB-C charging.
