  • Charging: up to 70 A, 20 A recommended, at 14.4 to 14.6 V
  • Peak: 170 A for 4 seconds on the spec sheet; 200 A for 3 seconds on the page
  • Temperature: spec sheet charges from -4 to 140 °F; the page says -4 to 113 °F
  • Range: the product page prints 4,000 to 8,000 cycles
  • Heater: charging resumes once the cells reach 5 °C, per SOK's H Series sheet
  • Series: no more than 4, with a battery voltage balancer
  • Service: detachable cover, replaceable BMS and cells
  • Store claim: UL 1973 and IEC 62619 for the cells only
  • Intertek: no record for this model (Hocan Group records cover SK48V100 and SK12V206H/PH)
  • Other directories: no record at UL Product iQ, LabTest, TÜV Rheinland or the CEC battery list
  • Terms: repair or replace, transferable; return shipping not covered
  • List: $369.00 at us.sokbattery.com

Self-Heating and serviceable, but heavy

  • What it is: a 12 V, 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery with a heater pad and Bluetooth in a serviceable metal case, for cold-weather RV and van use
  • The trade-off: charges below freezing on a seven-year term, but it is heavy and the case is not sealed
  • Conflict: SOK's page and spec sheet disagree on weight, continuous current and charge temperature
  • Look elsewhere for: a sealed marine case or closed-loop inverter communication

Strengths

  • Charges in freezing weather with its own heater
  • Bluetooth monitoring built in
  • Serviceable metal case with replaceable BMS and cells
  • Long workmanship warranty
  • Scales in series and parallel

Drawbacks

  • Heavy for its capacity
  • SOK's pages disagree on current and weight
  • Not sealed against water
  • No CAN or RS485 link to an inverter
  • Cycle rating given at partial depth

SOK Battery packs are made by Zhuhai Sepicn Electronics and Technology in Zhuhai, China, for Hocan Group Co Limited of Hong Kong, with SOK Energy Inc of Ontario, California, founded in 2019.

It sells with a cart at us.sokbattery.com, on Amazon through the SOK Battery Store as seller SOK Battery-SUNMAXENERGY, and through dealers including ShopSolar and Current Connected.

The SOK SK12V100H is a 12.8 V, 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery storing 1,280 Wh, with a built-in heater pad and Bluetooth monitoring through the ABC-BMS app.

SOK's spec sheet, shared with the unheated SK12V100, gives a 100 A maximum continuous discharge, a 170 A peak for 4 seconds and a 10.4 V recommended low-voltage disconnect. It takes up to 70 A of charge current, 20 A recommended, at 14.4 to 14.6 V.

The product page instead lists 170 A continuous and a 200 A peak for 3 seconds. The heater pad lets it charge down to -4 °F, and SOK's H Series sheet says charging resumes once the cells reach 5 °C. It measures 10.6 x 7.9 x 7.9 in in a black painted metal case rated IP50, with M8 terminals (5/16 in lugs).

It weighs about 30 lb by the spec sheet and 27 lb by the product page. The cover is detachable and the BMS and cells are replaceable. Up to 4 units run in series with a battery voltage balancer, and up to 10 in parallel.

SOK's page prints 4,000 to 8,000 cycles and its manual rates 4,000 cycles at 80 percent depth of discharge. SOK's warranty is 7 years.
