Usability

5.9 out of 10

At 250 W it sits on the 250-319 W rung for a rigid panel, so it scores 8 on capacity.

Its 250 W from 1.18 square meters works out to 21.2 percent module efficiency, the figure Renogy's datasheet also prints, so it scores 6 on efficiency.

Renogy's datasheet gives a temperature coefficient of Pmax of -0.32 percent per °C while its product page claims -0.29, so on the datasheet figure it scores 5 on operating range.

Renogy's warranty schedule holds output at 95 percent for 5 years, 90 percent for 10 and 80 percent for 25, so it scores 7 on lifespan.

An IP68 junction box and bifacial cells earn 4 of 8 feature points, with two bypass diodes, so it scores 6 on features.

Intertek lists Renogy's RSP250DT bifacial panel to UL 61730, but no certifier directory lists the RSP250DCT sold here, so it scores 2 on verification.

Renogy covers materials and workmanship for 10 years, so it scores 8 on warranty and support.

Warranty and returns

Renogy sets warranty terms by model, for the original buyer only, and takes unused renogy.com orders back within 30 days, lithium batteries within 7.

Reddit owners mostly report Renogy's rigid panels holding up: an r/OffGrid owner has run several for more than a decade with none failed, and an r/vandwellers thread on the brand sums it up as panels fine, other gear less so. An r/VanLife owner's RSP200D lost half its voltage after about 18 months, and Renogy shipped a replacement in two weeks under the 5-year warranty; that poster is quoted on Renogy's own ShadowFlux page. An r/SolarDIY buyer of the 200 W suitcase reported a defective charge controller, two wrong replacement parts and dozens of emails before a 20 percent refund (2025).

Footprint Hero, which links Renogy panels through Amazon and through Renogy's own affiliate program, ranked Renogy's older 100 W mono panel first of five 100 W panels it tested: 71.6 W peak in a December output test (2021) and 570 Wh over 24 hours against 490 Wh from a Newpowa (2023). On DIY Solar Forum, a 2022 thread opens with an owner whose Renogy gear still works after a decade, while a thread titled 'I only get 85W out of my Two Renogy 100W panels' reports one panel as low as 40 percent of rating and four averaging 54 percent.

The 250 W panel's Amazon US listing (B0D2RDWTJB) shares its ratings with the 100 W and 200 W bifacial sizes as variations of one family, and it reads 4.4 from 54 ratings, 76 percent five-star and 7 percent one-star; most reviews name the 250 W panel. Amazon's review summary says owners like the build quality, while power output draws mixed reports, from at or above 250 W to one owner's 170 W, and four of six who mention value call it pricey. A second, unavailable 250 W listing (B0DWX3YSV7) reads 5.0 from 7 ratings, under the ten-rating floor.
