Its case is space and maintenance: a 7-inch-wide tube on a wall, no brine tank, no drain, no power, and one light cartridge twice a year instead of bags of salt. Its weakness is the word softener, because CitraCharge chelates calcium and magnesium to stop them depositing rather than exchanging them out, so a hardness test after installation reads the same as before.
