Hooga's 60-LED Panel Measured at 55 on Its Earlier Build

The HG300 is Hooga's 60-LED single-chip tabletop panel, a 100 sq in face with 60 single-chip LEDs at 660 and 850 nm, at $199 with a swing-out kickstand and a 5, 10 or 15-minute timer. Light Therapy Insiders, which earns commission from Hooga and from rival brands, measured an October 2023 unit at 55 mW/cm2 averaged over nine points at 6 in and 69 at peak on a spectrometer, against the 73 Hooga states, and recorded 100 Hz flicker and a 51 dB fan. That unit had no timer or stand, so the reading describes an earlier build and output is not scored. The panel is listed with the FDA under Shenzhen Sungrow LED Technology's exempt ILY registration, with no 510(k), and Hooga states the finished panel has no UL or ETL listing. Its Amazon rating, 4.6 from 1,375, is one file shared by four HG sizes. It carries a 3-year warranty, and returns cost the buyer the shipping.

  • Kickstand and 5, 10 or 15-minute timer on the current build
  • Best value per measured watt in one tester's 2023 test
  • Solid iron housing, per a 2026 reviewer
  • 3-year warranty
  • $199
CONS
  • Measured 55 average and 69 peak against 73 claimed, on an earlier build
  • 100 Hz flicker on the tested unit
  • No 510(k) and no safety listing on the finished panel
  • Fan noise, per two reviewers
  • Amazon rating shared with three larger HG sizes
  • Door hanging kit and mount sold separately

The Hooga HG300 is the 60-LED panel in Hooga's single-chip HG line: 12.2 x 8.2 x 2.5 in and 6 lb (5.5 lb elsewhere on the same page), with 60 single-chip 5 W LEDs at 660 and 850 nm, 30 of each, an internal fan, a swing-out kickstand and a 5, 10 or 15-minute timer. Hooga rates it at 300 W of LED class and 80 W of power consumption and gives its output as 73 mW/cm2 at 6 in. The manual suggests about 5 minutes at 18 in for surface use and 10 to 15 minutes at 6 to 12 in. The $199 price includes goggles; the $15 door hanging kit and the door mount are sold separately. The HG500, the next HG size at 18.9 x 8.2 in with 100 LEDs, sells for $359 and lands in the same coverage band.

Brand-level

Hooga is the trading name of Commerce Trading Group, LLC of New Berlin, Wisconsin, which sells direct from hoogahealth.com and through its own Amazon store; no major US retailer carries a Hooga device, so the retailer pool is empty at every level. Its Trustpilot profile reads 4.5 from 75 reviews, 80 percent five-star against 12 percent one-star. Hooga claimed the profile in January 2026 and has invited reviews since: seven of the 14 reviews written before the claim are one-star, against two of the 58 written since, and Hooga has answered every negative review. The recurring complaints there are return shipping charged to the buyer even on faulty units, pre-orders charged weeks before shipping, and support that answers first with an AI agent. The BBB rates Hooga B+ without accreditation, on a file opened in April 2026 with one complaint, resolved, and no Hooga device has been recalled.
