$1,490
Usability
The 15 GPM FS1000 is the same system as the 12 GPM model with a larger tank and a larger carbon bed, and the 341 dollar premium buys headroom rather than better filtration. That headroom matters more than it sounds: an undersized carbon tank on a four-bathroom house shortens contact time when several fixtures run at once, which is exactly when chlorine breakthrough shows up. The service interval is unchanged at five years or a million gallons, so the larger bed is doing the same work over the same period with more margin. Everything that limits the 12 GPM model limits this one identically. There is no system-level NSF or WQA certification, no published reduction percentage for any contaminant, and no reduction of lead, PFAS, nitrate, iron or hardness. The tank is 58 in tall with the valve head, which is a real constraint in a crawlspace or a low garage and worth measuring before ordering. Choose this over the 12 GPM only if you actually have four or more bathrooms or a high simultaneous draw; on a smaller house the extra tank is money spent on capacity you will not reach.
- Larger carbon bed keeps contact time up when several fixtures draw at once
- Same 1,000,000 gallon or 5 year carbon guarantee as the smaller tank
- No drain, no electricity and no backwash cycle
- Lifetime warranty on tanks and valve heads
- Media is refillable, so end of life does not mean a new tank
- 6 month money-back guarantee
- No system-level NSF/ANSI certification, only component and materials claims
- No published reduction percentage for any contaminant
- No reduction of lead, PFAS, nitrate, iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, hardness or TDS
- At about 58 in tall with the valve head it will not fit every garage or crawlspace
- Sediment pre-filter still needs changing every 8 to 10 months
- 341 dollars more than the 12 GPM model for capacity most homes under four bathrooms will never use
This is the larger of the two FS1000 configurations, sized by FilterSmart for homes with four to six bathrooms and rated at 15 GPM. It uses the same Jacobi AquaSorb HS coconut shell carbon and the same 1,000,000 gallon or five year guarantee as the 12 GPM model, in a 10 in by 54 in tank rather than a 9 in by 48 in one. The upflow design still needs no drain, no electricity and no backwash, and the same sediment pre-filter housing ships with it.
