Usability
The WTS-MAX-20 is the system to buy if the house has five or six bathrooms and a chloramine problem, and it is the one APEC documents least well. Its strongest attribute is bed volume: a larger media charge means a longer interval between replacements and more contact time at the same flow, which is the whole argument for oversizing a carbon tank. Its weakest is that APEC publishes a service flow figure for the WTS-MAX-10 and not for this model, offering only a range of 8 to 20 GPM peak across the entire heavy duty line in its FAQ. Peak flow is not service flow and the two are routinely confused in this category. There is no system-level certification here either, and at 1,600 dollars the buyer is sizing against a number the manufacturer has not printed.

The APEC Water Systems WTS-MAX-20 is the largest catalytic carbon point-of-entry system in the heavy duty range, sized for homes at the upper end of the two to six bathroom band APEC quotes for the line. It uses the same backwashing mineral tank architecture and catalytic granular activated carbon as the WTS-MAX-10 in a larger bed. APEC publishes no service flow figure for this specific model.
