NSF/ANSI 53 is health-effects reduction and P473 is the specific PFOA and PFOS protocol, so the lead and forever-chemical claims here rest on third-party testing rather than manufacturer assertion. That is a genuine differentiator against the rest of this catalogue and against most whole-house filters at any price. The cost of that performance is filtration at 0.5 micron nominal, which loads quickly. The company itself recommends pre-treatment to extend cartridge life, and the replacement cartridges are expensive. Treat the sticker price as the opening cost, not the running cost.
