Flexible Enough For The Back, Too Vague To Score

The Panel is CurrentBody's first device for the body: a flexible array that sits on a stand, straps to a back or leg, or lies on the skin, with blue, red, near-infrared and 1072 nm channels in four modes. CurrentBody does not publish its dimensions, so its coverage cannot be scored, and with output also unmeasured it falls below the six-criterion floor and carries no usability score. Its output figures do not agree with each other: the specification gives 85 mW/cm2 for the anti-aging high mode with no distance, while the FAQ gives about 12.64 mW/cm2 at 6 inches. CurrentBody calls it FDA cleared, but FDA lists it only under ILY, a 510(k)-exempt infrared-lamp code, with no premarket number; it does hold a Health Canada licence. Testers like the hands-free stand and the straps, and Geeky Posh got about four high-mode sessions per charge. At $1,099.99 with a two-year warranty, it is sold only through CurrentBody.

CurrentBody does not publish enough of this product’s specifications for it to be scored against our eight criteria.

PROS

  • Stand, two body straps and goggles included
  • Battery-powered, so no cord during a session
  • Contact and 6-inch modes
CONS
  • No dimensions published, so coverage cannot be scored
  • Sold as FDA cleared; FDA lists it only under a 510(k)-exempt code, with no premarket number
  • 85 mW/cm2 high-mode figure has no distance; the FAQ gives about 12.64 at 6 inches
  • 20-minute high-mode sessions and about four per charge (Geeky Posh)
  • Sold only through CurrentBody

The LED Light Therapy Panel is a flexible, battery-powered panel with 136 LEDs of four chips each at 415 nm blue, 633 nm red, 830 nm near-infrared and 1072 nm deep near-infrared. It runs four modes: two 10-minute low modes on the skin, which CurrentBody rates at 30 and 44 mW/cm2, and two 20-minute high modes from 6 inches, rated at 85 and 65. It comes with a stand, two body straps and goggles.

CurrentBody's Trustpilot profile for currentbody.us reads 4.4 from 7,523 reviews, 2,314 of them in the past twelve months, and the company invites customers to leave them. The recurring complaints there are devices that fail inside a year, slow customer service and costly returns, and SmartCustomer (formerly Sitejabber) rates the company 1.9 from 126. On Amazon US the buy box on CurrentBody's listings often goes to third-party sellers rather than to its parent company, The Beauty Tech Group. No retailer other than CurrentBody sells the Panel.
