Shore pass-through built in, No charger

  • What it is: a 12 V, 2,000 W pure sine wave inverter with a transfer switch and no charger
  • The trade-off: shore pass-through and a remote panel, but no stacking and app access only through a separate hub
  • Fit: the manual requires at least 200 Ah of Battle Born batteries behind it
  • Not checked: Battle Born publishes no no-load draw
  • Look elsewhere for: a built-in battery charger or parallel stacking

Strengths

  • Shore power passes through automatically
  • Control panel mounts away from the unit
  • Power save mode cuts idle drain
  • Hardwire AC terminals
  • Second output sheds heavy loads on battery

Drawbacks

  • No-load draw unpublished
  • GFCI protection costs extra
  • Cannot be stacked for more power
  • App monitoring needs a separate hub
  • Needs a large Battle Born battery bank

  • Overall: Reddit threads on Battle Born since December 2025 are mostly negative and centre on the 100Ah battery's positive terminal
  • Terminal: r/overlanding and r/sailing posts relayed Will Prowse's videos of the 100Ah positive terminal overheating under load (December 2025); Prowse is sued by Dragonfly and is not independent
  • Response: an r/batteries post quoted Battle Born calling the terminal's aluminum nut a purpose-built thermal failsafe, and owners there called it a design flaw (December 2025)
  • Suit: r/SolarDIY and r/RVLiving threads on Dragonfly's trade libel suit against Prowse ran largely critical of the brand (June 2026)

  • Overall: RV and boat forum owners have turned wary of the 100Ah battery since December 2025, with some long-time owners reporting no trouble
  • Removed: on Airstream Forums an owner of two 270Ah batteries bought in 2024 took them out of service after the terminal reports (February 2026)
  • No trouble: another Airstream Forums owner noted Airstream has offered Battle Born for years with few failure reports on the forum (June 2026)
  • Warranty: Forest River Forums owners objected to paying shipping and possible labor charges on warranty claims (January 2026)
  • Capacity: a Trawler Forum owner of twelve 24V 50Ah batteries saw about 20 percent capacity loss, and testing found 3 of 12 at end of life (February 2026)
  • RVelectricity: Mike Sokol, an independent RV electrical safety instructor, ran about 100 full cycles on a new 100Ah at 50 to 70 A without terminal overheating (May 2026)
  • Disclosure: Sokol also interviewed Dragonfly's CEO for RVBusiness, and does not say how he obtained the battery

  • Will Prowse: tore down Battle Born 100Ah batteries and filmed the positive terminal overheating, then a new unit he bought melting after about 30 cycles (December 2025 to early 2026)
  • Ties: Dragonfly sued him for trade libel in June 2026 and alleges he earned over $200,000 in Battle Born affiliate fees until October 2025, so his videos are not independent in either direction
  • Earlier: his teardown of the same 100Ah design about six years before had praised it

  • 14.6 x 12.0 x 4.0 in case
  • Detachable remote panel
  • RV-C or NMEA 2000 CAN port
  • 30 A transfer relay
  • Battle Born Batteries is the brand of Dragonfly Energy Holdings Corp. of Reno, Nevada (Nasdaq: DFLI), a company founded in 2012.
  • Dragonfly Energy acquired the Dakota Lithium brand's assets in July 2026 and runs that brand separately from Battle Born.

It sells with a cart at battlebornbatteries.com, through dealers and installers on its dealer locator, and on Amazon US, where Amazon.com sells its 100Ah battery.

The Battle Born 2000W Inverter, model BBI2000, is a 12 V pure sine wave inverter rated 2,000 W continuous at 40 °C (16.7 A at 120 V, derated above 104 °F) with a 4,000 W surge for 5 seconds. Battle Born rates peak efficiency at 91% and full-load efficiency above 86%, and publishes no no-load draw.

It runs from LBCO voltage to 18.0 VDC (12.0 V nominal, 192 A DC at full load) and its output can be set to 108, 110 or 120 V at 60 or 50 Hz.

It has no battery charger, but an automatic transfer switch with a 30 A relay (24 A continuous) passes shore or generator power through, switching in 20 ms in appliance mode or 10 ms in UPS mode. AC Out 1 runs on battery or shore power, while AC Out 2 is live only when shore or generator power is present.

A power save mode sleeps the inverter until a load of 25 W or more appears. The detachable control panel can stay on the unit or mount remotely with the included extension cable and cover plate, and a CAN port speaks RV-C or NMEA 2000. Bluetooth and the Battle Born app work only through the separate Battle Born HUB.

The manual gives it 14.6 x 12.0 x 4.0 in including flanges and 16.7 lb (the product page and data sheet say 17.2 lb). It runs from -4 to 140 °F, and the manual requires at least 200 Ah of Battle Born batteries behind it.

Optional add-ons are a GFCI kit ($45) and a MiniFit Jr to RJ45 Y cable for the HUB ($50); the inverter-only model cannot be stacked.
