The 3-Stage adds sediment pre-filtration and 20% more capacity over the 2-Stage for $100. On water with visible sediment or rust that is a fair trade, since the pre-filter is what stops the expensive Claryum cartridges clogging early. On clean city water it is $100 for 100 gallons, and the 2-Stage is the better buy.

The Claryum 3-Stage is the 2-Stage with a 5 micron sediment pre-filter added ahead of the two Claryum cartridges. The pre-filter captures rust, sediment and silt before they reach the carbon, which is what buys the extra capacity.
Certified performance is identical to the 2-Stage: WQA tested and certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 including P473, and 401, for 99.995% of cysts, 99.6% of microplastics and lead, 99.7% of PFOA and PFOS, 97.3% of chlorine and 91% of chloramines.
Capacity rises from 500 gallons to 600, a 20% gain, while rated flow stays at 0.5 GPM. If your water carries visible sediment the pre-filter earns its keep; on clean municipal supply the 2-Stage does the same job for $100 less.
