Celluma is the LED light therapy line of BioPhotas, Inc., a privately held company in Tustin, California, founded by Patrick Johnson, which FDA lists as the manufacturer of every Celluma device at its Tustin site. Its devices are flexible, shape-taking LED panels at 465, 640 and 880 nm, sold to clinics and spas as well as for home use, as single panels, a multi-panel system, a full-body blanket, a handheld and a face-and-scalp mask.
FDA’s registration database lists every Celluma device compared here under BioPhotas’ own clearances, K152280, K171323, K211038 and K232977, which describe a shape-taking LED panel at those three wavelengths with 30-minute treatments. The single panels, the POD and the DELUX blankets fit that description; the MYSTIQUE mask is listed under clearances that describe a flat panel rather than a mask. Intertek’s directory carries no safety listing for any Celluma device, and no measurement of any Celluma device’s output with a published method exists.
The six Celluma devices compared here run on celluma.com from $499 for the POD S2 to $14,995 for the DELUX S2 XL, and the single panels’ other versions, the FACE, LITE, RESTORE, NOVA, SPORT and PRO PLUS, are priced in their rows. Every device carries a 2-year warranty with a third year for sale. Celluma takes back unused devices within 30 days, deducting 10 percent for damaged packaging and 20 percent for a broken seal, and refunds nothing on a device switched on for 10 minutes or more. Celluma sells its single panels and the POD on Amazon itself, and Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s carry some models.
Celluma holds 4.1 from 30 Trustpilot reviews, 67 percent five-star against 23 percent one-star, and the BBB rates BioPhotas A, not accredited, with 2 complaints in three years. Celluma’s Amazon listings with ten or more ratings read from 3.3 to 4.6, and FDA’s adverse-event database holds one consumer report, on a Series 1 DELUX in 2022.
