Usability
At a hundred and seventy dollars this is one of the cheapest routes to whole-house UV disinfection, and the 304 stainless chamber is the right material rather than the plastic housings that appear at this price. It does one job: inactivating bacteria in water that is already clear. It removes nothing, so it needs sediment filtration ahead of it and it will not touch chlorine, iron, nitrates or hardness, all of which Aquasure states plainly in its own answers. The 8 GPM rating is the constraint for anything above a small home, and the lamp runs continuously because the system has no flow sensor, which means a standby power draw and an annual replacement whether or not the house used much water. Nothing here is certified to NSF/ANSI 55, which is the standard that exists specifically to verify UV dose, and on a disinfection product aimed at unsafe water that gap matters more than it does elsewhere in the Aquasure range. As a polish stage behind good filtration on a tested well, it is well priced.
- 304 stainless steel chamber rather than a plastic housing at this price
- Arrives pre-assembled with 3/4 inch fittings and installs in either orientation
- Chemical-free disinfection with no taste, colour or odour change
- Annual lamp replacement with the part number published as AF-UV12-BULB for the range
- Three year warranty on registration within 60 days
- No NSF/ANSI 55 certification, the standard that exists specifically to verify UV dose
- 8 GPM is the lowest rating in the Quantum range and limits it to small homes
- No flow sensor: the lamp is powered continuously whether water is moving or not
- Removes nothing. Requires sediment filtration upstream and does not treat chlorine, iron or nitrates
- Aquasure confirms it will not kill parasites, only deactivate bacteria
- Only two reviews on the manufacturer's own page and no independent coverage located
The Aquasure Quantum Series 8 GPM is a single-stage ultraviolet disinfection system built around a 32 watt UV-C lamp in a 304 stainless steel chamber, sized by the manufacturer for one to three bathrooms and up to four people. It arrives pre-assembled with 3/4 inch fittings and the lamp is replaced annually. UV inactivates bacteria in the water and changes nothing about taste, colour, odour or chemistry.
