FilterSmart FS1500 PRO Filter Softener Combo with UV 12 GPM
Three-stage point-of-entry treatment: carbon, salt-free scale control and UV disinfection at 12 GPM.
$3,980
Usability
This is FilterSmart's everything configuration for a small to mid-size house: carbon for chlorine and organics, TAC for scale, UV for bacteria and viruses. For a well-supplied one to three bathroom home that genuinely has all three problems, the logic holds, and treating everything at the point of entry rather than under one sink is the right approach. The price is where it stops making sense. At 3,980 dollars the UV stage costs 1,585 dollars over the standard combo, which is within a few dollars of what FilterSmart charges for the AquaUV as a standalone product, so the bundle is not a bundle in any meaningful sense. And the certification gap is at its widest here: UV is the one stage in this system where a performance standard exists and is routinely met by competitors, and FilterSmart publishes no NSF/ANSI 55 listing, no dose in mJ/cm2 and no validated flow rate. On a well, where UV is doing genuine safety work rather than improving taste, that is the one number a buyer should not have to take on trust. Adding UV also ends the range's no-power, no-maintenance proposition: an outlet, an annual lamp and sleeve cleaning are now part of ownership. UV inactivates but does not remove, so sediment must be controlled ahead of it or organisms shelter behind particles.
- Covers chlorine and organics, scale and microbiological contamination in one installation
- Chemical-free UV disinfection with no taste or byproduct penalty
- Carbon stage keeps the 1,000,000 gallon or 5 year guarantee; conditioner media is not consumed
- Lifetime warranty on tanks and valve heads
- Sensible configuration for a well-supplied home that has all three problems
- 3,980 dollars, and the UV premium of 1,585 dollars is essentially the standalone AquaUV price, so bundling saves nothing
- No NSF/ANSI 55 certification, no published UV dose and no validated flow rate for the chamber
- Needs mains power, an annual lamp change and sleeve cleaning, which ends the no-power, no-maintenance case for the range
- UV inactivates but removes nothing, so sediment and turbidity must be controlled ahead of it
- The conditioner stage still does not soften, and the carbon stage still has no certified reduction claim
- FilterSmart's FAQ describes the PRO series as catalytic carbon for chloramine while the PRO variant is sold as filter plus UV
The FS1500 PRO adds FilterSmart's AquaUV chamber to the 12 GPM dual-tank combo, giving carbon filtration, salt-free scale control and ultraviolet disinfection in one point-of-entry installation. The carbon and conditioner tanks are unchanged from the standard combo; the UV stage adds a powered stainless steel chamber with a quartz sleeve and an annual lamp change. It is aimed at one to three bathroom homes on well water or supplies with a microbiological history.
