Bundling the UV rather than selling it as a $1,598 add-on is the sensible call for a well system, and NSF/ANSI 55 Class B certification is the right standard for the job. The caution is that UV is a disinfection stage, not a treatment for what wells actually fail on. Aquasana publishes influent limits for iron, manganese, hardness, tannins and turbidity, and a well outside those needs pre-treatment this system does not provide. Get a well test before ordering.

  • UV NSF tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 55, Class B

CONS
  • 500,000 gallons or 5 years, half the capacity of the city-water Rhino
  • Aquasana does not publish an NSF/ANSI 61 tank certification for this model
  • UV needs influent within published iron, manganese, hardness, tannin and turbidity limits
  • Does not treat iron or sulfur, which are common well problems
  • UV lamp is an annual replacement and the unit draws mains power continuously
  • Rated 7.0 GPM suits up to 2.5 bathrooms and four occupants only

The Rhino Well Water with UV is the private-well configuration of the Rhino platform. It combines a carbon media upgrade with copper-zinc KDF, a 20-inch pre-filter, a post-filter and an ultraviolet stage supplied as standard rather than as a paid upgrade.

The UV filter is NSF tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 55, Class B. Aquasana states it sterilizes up to 99.8% of bacteria and nonpathogenic viruses, and its certified-products listing puts independent testing at 99.99% of bacteria and viruses and 99% of cysts. UV requires reasonably clean influent water to work, and Aquasana publishes limits for iron, manganese, hardness, tannins and turbidity that should be checked against a well test before ordering.

Capacity is 500,000 gallons or up to 5 years, half the Rhino city-water figure, with a matching 5-year warranty. Rated flow is 7.0 GPM with a 14.7 GPM peak.

Social Scores

Social Score

Review pools for the well system are shared with the wider Rhino family on Amazon and Walmart, so the figures below are platform-level. Aquasana's own on-page rating is not used.

Reddit Score7.0

Brand-level. Owners across r/HomeImprovement, r/BuyItForLife and r/water consistently report the taste and chlorine-smell improvement is immediate and real, and several note the supplied components are better than they need to be, citing Schedule 80 unions and fittings. Two complaints recur: customer support going unanswered for weeks, and the 20 inch pre-filter's O-ring wearing out with no replacement part listed anywhere. Several commenters also push back on the marketing, pointing out the certified claim covers chlorine rather than PFAS.

Google Score7.0

Brand-level. Independent coverage is broadly favourable on taste, chlorine reduction and cost per gallon, and consistently critical of the same two things: the price before installation, and support responsiveness. Reviewer-collected owner complaints cluster on pressure loss appearing around year three where pre-filters were not changed on schedule, which Aquasana attributes to maintenance rather than the tank.

YouTube Score7.0

Product-line. Most Aquasana whole house videos are affiliate-driven overviews rather than tested reviews, and read positively on taste and installation. The substantive recurring criticisms are the two-month pre-filter interval, the long-run cost of eventually replacing the dual tank, and at least one reviewer reporting the warranty drops from 10 years to 5 on a self-install.

Amazon Score8.0

Product-line. The Rhino family shares one Amazon listing at 4.2 out of 5 across 656 ratings, sold by Aquasana. Positive reviews centre on visible pre-filter loading and the chlorine smell disappearing; negative ones on installation difficulty and support.

User Review Score8.0

Product-line. Walmart shows 4.6 out of 5 across 344 for the well configuration sold by Aquasana. The single most repeated point in Home Depot's well-system reviews is that the system does not reduce iron, which matches Aquasana's own guidance to call about iron separately.
