Usability
Two things make the UA-5Y interesting. The first is the cartridge interval: five years, against six to twenty-four months across the rest of the range, which changes the running-cost arithmetic entirely. The second is the certification claim — NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 401 and 372, where 401 covers emerging contaminants such as pharmaceutical residues and is claimed by almost nothing else Waterdrop sells, and 53 is the health-effects standard that most of the range lacks. Stated reductions include chlorine, lead, PFOA and PFOS. It is not an RO system, so TDS stays where it is. On certified coverage per dollar it is arguably the strongest thing in this catalogue.
