Usability
The UV ELITE is for a household on a well or a supply with a known microbiological risk, sized by bathroom count rather than by water chemistry. Its strongest attribute is the hardware: a 316L stainless reactor to ASME pressure vessel standards, a constant-current driver and an expansion port for a UV intensity sensor are specification-grade choices rather than consumer ones. Its weakest is that WaterChef publishes no NSF/ANSI 55 listing, which is the standard written specifically for UV disinfection performance, so the 99.9 percent figure rests on the manufacturer's own testing. UV also does nothing about anything dissolved, so this is a stage in a treatment train and never a whole-house solution on its own. Replacement lamps run $115.95 to $125.95 and WaterChef does not publish a replacement interval, which makes running cost hard to plan. At $764.06 it is priced against certified competitors that publish their listings.
- 316L polished stainless steel reactor built to ASME pressure vessel standards
- Colour LCD reports lamp life, diagnostics and fault conditions
- Lamp changes require no draining of the system
- Expansion port accepts a UV intensity sensor module
- Ten-year warranty on the stainless housing
- Two sizes cover one to three and three to six bathroom homes
- No NSF/ANSI 55 certification published, so the 99.9 percent claim is manufacturer-stated
- No published lamp replacement interval, so running cost cannot be calculated
- Lamps list at $115.95 to $125.95 and are model-specific
- Electronics carry three years and lamps one, against ten on the housing
- Removes nothing dissolved; requires separate filtration upstream
- Priced against a $1,349.99 compare-at figure that does not appear to be charged
The TrueHome UV ELITE is WaterChef's point-of-entry ultraviolet purifier, sold in 10 GPM (EL-UV-10C) and 15 GPM (EL-UV-15C) configurations. The reactor is 316L polished stainless steel built to ASME pressure vessel standards, and the controller provides constant current with a colour LCD showing lamp life, diagnostics and faults. Lamps are low-pressure high-output types with ceramic bases and change without draining the system. Warranty runs ten years on the stainless housing, three years on electronics and one year on lamps, sensors and quartz sleeves.
