Usability
Air injection is the right technology for typical well problems, and the WS1's appeal is that it solves iron, manganese and sulfur with a daily backwash and nothing to buy afterwards. No cartridges, no chlorine to top up. The caveat is the rating limits: 7 ppm iron, 1 ppm manganese, 8 ppm hydrogen sulfide. Test your well first, because a system sized against the wrong numbers underperforms and the warranty excludes water outside spec.
- Removes up to 7 ppm iron, 1 ppm manganese and 8 ppm hydrogen sulfide
- Air injection needs no chemicals and no replacement cartridges
- Daily automatic backwash keeps the media bed fresh with no user input
- Eliminates orange and black staining and the sulfur smell
- 12 GPM service flow covers 1-4 bathrooms
- Lifetime warranty on tanks and valves
- Near-zero running cost compared with cartridge-based well systems
- Hard limits at 7 ppm iron, 1 ppm manganese and 8 ppm hydrogen sulfide; above those you need the chemical injection system
- A complete well water test is essential before buying, and SpringWell says so
- Warranty is void if the system runs on water outside its specification
- Does not soften water or address bacteria
- Daily backwash sends water to drain
- No published NSF/ANSI certification listing
The SpringWell WS1 is an air injection oxidation system for private wells, removing up to 7 ppm of iron, 1 ppm of manganese and 8 ppm of hydrogen sulfide. Those three are what turn well water orange or black and give it the rotten-egg smell. It is rated for one to four bathrooms at 12 GPM service flow.
The AIO design needs no chemicals and no filter cartridges. A daily backwash flushes accumulated contaminants and replenishes the air pocket that does the oxidising, so ongoing maintenance is close to nothing.
SpringWell is emphatic that a complete well water test comes first, because every well is different and no single system handles every contaminant. Above these thresholds you need the chemical injection system instead. The tank is 10 inches wide and 54 inches tall, 64 with the head, on a 1 inch connection.
