Heater and app, but parallel only

  • What it is: a 12.8 V, 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery with a 100 W internal heater and Bluetooth app
  • The trade-off: cold charging and phone monitoring, but no inverter comms port, parallel only and a prorated term

  • Bluetooth app monitoring with remote on and off
  • Weatherproof case
  • Good energy for its weight
  • Full-rated continuous current for its size

Drawbacks

  • Heater runs only while a charger is connected
  • No CAN or RS485 port for inverter communication
  • Parallel onlyno series connection in the manual
  • Warranty prorated after the first year
  • No third-party certification claimed beyond transport testing

Rich Solar is the brand of Rich Solar Inc., which says it began in 2005 and keeps its offices and warehouse in Ontario, California.

It sells with a cart at richsolar.com, through a RICH SOLAR Amazon brand store run by the seller SUNRICH ENERGY, on Walmart, and through dealers such as Outbound Power.

The Rich Solar ALPHA 1 (model RS-B121S) is a 12.8 V, 100 Ah lithium iron phosphate battery storing 1,280 Wh, with a built-in 100 W heater and Bluetooth monitoring through the RICH SOLAR app.

Its BMS allows 100 A continuous charge and discharge, with a 14.4 V maximum charge voltage, 50 A recommended charge current and a 10 V discharge cut-off.

The heater switches on at or below 41°F only while charging current is present and switches off at 50°F or when the charger is disconnected; the battery cannot power it from its own charge. The app shows state of charge, voltage, current, temperature and cycle count, and can switch the battery on and off.

Up to four connect in parallel; the manual shows no series connection. The IP65 case is UL94 V-0 flame-retardant plastic with M8 terminals, measures 10.2 x 6.6 x 8.3 in (260 x 168 x 211 mm) and weighs about 24.3 lb by the manual (24.0 lb on the spec sheet and product page).

The box holds the battery, two each of M8 x 12, M8 x 16 and M8 x 20 stainless screws, and the manual.
