Load output included, Bluetooth costs extra

  • What it is: an older 20 A, 12/24 V die-cast MPPT controller with a load output, for small RV, boat and cabin systems
  • The trade-off: a load output and high efficiency, but low current, a 100 V string limit and Bluetooth only as an add-on
  • Not checked: Rich Solar's manual PDF has no readable text, so box contents and the sensor's inclusion rest on the spec sheet
  • Look elsewhere for: arrays above about 520 W, built-in Bluetooth or a 48 V bank

Strengths

  • Load output with timer and light control
  • High conversion efficiency
  • Recovers over-discharged lithium batteries
  • Die-cast case sheds heat
  • Custom charge settings

Drawbacks

  • Low charge current for larger arrays
  • Bluetooth needs the BT-1 add-on
  • Low string voltage limit
  • Short, prorated warranty
  • Case suited to dry locations only
